03/03/2010 - Blacklist law a let-down PDF Print E-mail

Anti-blacklisting legislation introduced by the government was a big let-down according to Solidarity.

The legislation is weak and likely to be ineffective. They don't  make blacklisting a specific criminal offence and only prevented workers from being blacklisted for undertaking narrowly defined "trade union activities." It is likely that employers (particularly) in the construction industry will continue to find ways to blacklist workers. Solidarity continues to call for tougher regulations to stamp out blacklisting.
