I was just looking at this issue of British Worker again and would like to make a few general comments:

First of all, publishing British Worker via docstore is much better than using the old pdf format. For some reason, I think that it’s now much clearer and easier to read.

Secondly, I was very interested to read the interview – reproduced from Alternative Green – with the Solidarity representative. Did this form part of a reciprocal interview with AG? If so, would it be possible to reproduce the interview with them?

(Additionally, can you provide some information on Alternative Green? I’ve very quickly Googled AG, but haven’t found anything substantial yet).

I think that the interview demonstrates that Solidarity is a Trade Union in the purest sense. It believes that the role of a trade union is to negotiate with employers over wages, work rules, hours, health and safety issues and so on.

Additionally, it does not tell its members and supporters which party to join or vote for. Contrast this with unions like USDAW who merely act as recruiting sergeants the Labour Party.

We must also remember that members may not be aware, or know the meaning of terms like docstore and pdf. I think its important that 'British Worker' is also made available in paper form. I haven't got any statistics to refer to, but I bet there are still loads of workers out there with out access to the internet.
