Rumours are rife that the British Council is planning to outsource jobs to India. Union officials are claiming that workers from India will be brought in to shadow staff here in preparation. The council, which promotes our language and culture abroad, announced earlier this year that it was cutting hundreds of jobs and outsourcing some jobs to India.

Solidarity Executive member David Durant said:-

"Outsourcing our jobs abroad must be opposed. It's ironic that an organisation promoting our culture may end-up largely based abroad employing non-citizens."
